God's Power Within Us #11 - Especially In Weakness

Today we continue learning about God's Power within us.  God's Word is full of passages talking about His power and showing us that we have nonstop access to His strength every second of every day.

Today we will be focusing on 2 Corinthians 12:

Remember, Jesus said that we (Spirit filled Christians) are able to perform all of the miraculous works that Jesus did when He was here in human form.  Actually, Jesus said that we would do EVEN GREATER than what He did (see Scripture passage below).

John 14:12-14 also shows us how powerful the name of Jesus Christ is:  "If you ask anything in My name".  (It is important to note that these miracles must glorify our Heavenly Father).

Below is the featured "power" passage for September:

2 Corinthians 12:6-10

I need to preface the verses below by explaining briefly what Paul was talking about in the previous five verses.  He was describing a vision about paradise.
Paul knew that he could easily have become prideful in himself and could have started bragging about what he knew and about what he had experienced.  However, that kind of behavior would NOT have glorified God.  That's why, in a way, he was thankful for the "thorn of the flesh" because it kept him on track and it was ONLY God's power that could get him through that hardship/weakness.  Let's read the verses below:

The knowledge and assurance of eternal life through Jesus Christ gives us comfort and hope for today and strength to endure tomorrow.  Also, being able to go on with this thorn/weakness could only be done with God's supernatural power and that's why God's power is made perfect in our weakness.

We read below that Paul is even going as far as being glad in hardships and insults....!  (see below):

I need to be honest - it is incredibly difficult to be thankful for or even just accept any weakness, hardship or difficulty but it really is true that drawing from God's power works.

I am reminded of a verse in Nehemiah:

"..........the joy of the Lord is your strength."
Nehemiah 8:10

Even when I don't feel like being "joyful" I then focus on what God has done for me and think about who He is and then I really do become joyful.  And God's joy is strength!

When I am weak, then God is strong in me.  Hallelujah!
