SHOCK-O-LAT Sunflower Variety
September and early October is usually SUNFLOWER Season here in God's Growing Garden but this year started out with a 3 week drought (not a single drop of rain for 3 weeks). So, everything has seemed late and especially my sunflowers. Just a few days ago I finished taking my final sunflower picture of 2023. Every year, during the month of September (and sometimes going into October), I feature the sunflower varieties that I grew during the summer. I grew 4 different sunflower varieties this year featured in the Sunflower Series of 2023. Today I am featuring: SHOCK-O-LAT variety. I'm not sure if they chose that name because they thought it looked like "chocolate" (I do NOT believe that this variety resembles anything chocolatey. However, a few years ago I grew the"Chocolate" variety, which does resemble chocolate - click HERE to view). OR, it could be that this variety is so shockingly beautiful that it SHOCKS A LOT of people. I'm not sure which is true but what I do know is true is that this is a beautiful sunflower.
Before showing the featured pictures, I wanted to remind you why sunflowers are my favorite flower. Sunflowers always turn towards the sun - you can literally see them gently turning throughout the day to follow the sun. To be very clear - I am NOT a "sun" worshiper. However, I am a "Son" worshiper: Jesus Christ The Son of God and I strive every day to grow and turn towards Him in every aspect of my life.
ENJOY the following pictures!
All photos were taken by me (Angie Ouellette-Tower) and the sunflowers were all grown in my garden.

Enjoyed seeing the pics, sunflowers are my fav flower, they seem so happy :) What is the tallest one you ever grew? Do you harvest the seeds and eat them? Thanks so much for linking up at the #UnlimitedLinkParty 131. Pinned.
ReplyDeleteThank you - I agree - they do seem happy. The tallest variety that I have ever grown is the "Mongolian Giant Sunflower" - I'm not very good at looking at something and estimating it's height but it was tall (lol). Unfortunately, the squirrels always eat the seeds before I am able to save them.
DeleteAngie, CONGRATS! Your post is FEATURED at the #UnlimitedLinkParty 132!
