Prophecy Fulfilled - Micah 5:2-5
If you have been following along this year then you will know that I have had a change of heart regarding the Old Testament. I used to think that only the New Testament was relevant today because it's all about Jesus Christ. Well, I was so wrong - the Old Testament is full of prophecies about Jesus.
Today we will be studying from the book of Micah. Even in the smaller books of the Old Testament Jesus is mentioned.
This passage prophesized specifically about Jesus being born in Bethlehem. Notice that these verses talk about the small size of the town of Bethlehem "you are little among the thousands of Judah." After reading these verses, the Christmas song "O Little Town of Bethlehem" suddenly means so much more. The lyrics were obviously fashioned after Micah chapter 5.
