God's Power Within Us #10 - A Spirit of Gentleness

Today we continue learning about God's Power within us.  God's Word is full of passages talking about His power and showing us that we have nonstop access to His strength every second of every day.

Today we will be focusing on 1 Corinthians 4:20-21

Remember, Jesus said that we (Spirit filled Christians) are able to perform all of the miraculous works that Jesus did when He was here in human form.  Actually, Jesus said that we would do EVEN GREATER than what He did (see Scripture passage below).

John 14:12-14 also shows us how powerful the name of Jesus Christ is:  "If you ask anything in My name".  (It is important to note that these miracles must glorify our Heavenly Father).

Below is the featured "power" passage for August:

1 Corinthians 4:20-21

Just last Sunday we began a new series on "Energy, Frequency & Vibration" (click HERE to view).  We are learning about the power of God's Word.  However, in verse 20 below it might sound like the opposite of what we learned last week.  Actually, it does not mean the opposite.  Here's another way of saying that verse:
"the kingdom of God is not just somebody babbling and making up a story because it's actually backed up by God's power!" (my version)

God's power is not abusive.  Just like it says in verse 21 - when we are Spirit filled would we ever come at you and hit you with a rod??? - NO!  Of course not.  God's Spirit is gentle. Now that does NOT mean that there's no such thing as "righteous indignation" (like when Jesus overturned the money-changers tables in the tabernacle on the Sabbath).  There's a time for justice and a time for gentleness.  Let's define "gentleness":

Gentleness - meek, humble, mild and calm

I am reminded of a passage in Proverbs (see below).  By being gentle and treating our enemies with calm, caring attitude and actions, we are actually frustrating our enemies.

"If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat;
And if he is thirsty, give him water to drink;
For so you will heap coals of fire on his head,
And the Lord will reward you."
Proverbs 25:21-22

Love and gentleness are very powerful.
