God's Power Within Us #7 - The Power of Life & Peace
Today we continue learning about God's Power within us. God's Word is full of passages talking about His power and showing us that we have nonstop access to His strength every second of every day.
Today we will be focusing on Romans 8:3-11
Remember, Jesus said that we (Spirit filled Christians) are able to perform all of the miraculous works that Jesus did when He was here in human form. Actually, Jesus said that we would do EVEN GREATER than what He did (see Scripture passage below).
John 14:12-14 also shows us how powerful the name of Jesus Christ is: "If you ask anything in My name". (It is important to note that these miracles must glorify our Heavenly Father).
I usually write a "Power" post on the last Sunday of every month but I missed one last month because of the holiday.
Below is the featured "power" passage for April:
Romans 8:3-11
The Law was POWERLESS. Jesus Christ's sacrifice and resurrection filled us with LIFE & PEACE!
(see Scripture passage below)
When we are filled with the Holy Spirit He fills our mind. When our minds are full of Jesus, then our thoughts are full of life and peace - and our actions automatically follow. A mind filled with the Holy Spirit leaves no room for fear and anxiety. A Holy Spirit filled mind also prevents us from obsessing - having our mind go over an over something bad that happened or something bad that could happen - focusing only on the negative. Instead, a Holy Spirit filled mind creates peaceful thoughts, positive actions and an abundant life (see Bible verses below).
Notice the word "hostile" in the Scripture above. It always makes it easier to understand when we look at the definition.
Hostile - openly opposing or resisting, unfriendly.
Isn't that the truth! - before being filled with the Holy Spirit our sinful nature was always running from God and doing the exact opposite of what He asked or planned.
It is as if we have been resurrected with Jesus Christ because His Spirit lives in us. Our old personality is dead and our new self in Christ is alive and full of peace.
Peace is so much more powerful than turmoil.
Death is fear but LIFE is PEACE!
