Biblical Anatomy #18 - HANDS

Today we continue studying in the series called "Biblical Anatomy."

Anatomy - is the study of parts and structures of organisms.

What is "Biblical Anatomy" you might ask?  It is the study of the structure of the Christian Body (The Christian family/church).  

Today we focus on HANDS:

Hand- (noun) a grasping organ:  the body part at the end of 

           the arm of a human, ape or monkey.

       - (verb) to give, pass or transmit with the hand.

This is a perfect time to detail the Scripture passage that started this series:

"For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ.  For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit.  For in fact the body is not one member but many.  If the foot should say, “Because I am not a HAND, I am not of the body,” is it 

therefore not of the body?...........

.........................

Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually."

1 Corinthians 12:12-15 & :27

That explains perfectly how each member of the Christian family/church are unique individually but together;  each filled with the Holy Spirit, they are one Body.

There are so many verses in the Bible showing us how our heavenly Father upholds, covers, leads, protects us with His right hand.  We begin by learning the significance of "God's right hand." (see verses below):

"Right hand" symbolizes Jesus Christ because He sits at the right hand of the Father (see Scripture below):

"God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;  who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right HAND of the Majesty on high, having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
Hebrews 1:1-4

There are also very important references about Jesus and hands.  Let's begin with what Jesus said just before his last breath:

  Of course, one of the main "hand" references when it comes to Jesus is when Jesus showed His disciples the wounds on His hands and feet after He had risen from the tomb. (Read  John 20:19-29)

We can't forget how many miracles Jesus performed by placing His hand on the person needing His miracle.

"Then Jesus put out His HAND and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” 

Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

Matthew 8:3"

We can also be miracle workers through Jesus' name by the "laying on of hands."  There are many Bible verses in the book of Acts detailing how the disciples did just that - preforming miracles in Jesus name through the laying on of hands.  (see verse below).   

Remember, we are capable of doing even greater works than Jesus did - (see Bible verse below):

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.  And 

whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the 

Son.   If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.

John 14:12-14

Finally, we can always take comfort in any situation when we know that NOTHING can snatch us away from God's loving HANDS:

"And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch 
them out of My HAND."

John 10:28
