Easy Tortilla Pizza
(with Garden Fresh Toppings)
This recipe is a great idea as an after school snack or a lower-carb pizza version.
Using store bought tortilla shells makes this recipe simple and quick.
I like to use as many homegrown toppings as possible, but for the post today the only home grown item was onions.
Here are other homegrown topping options:
Printable Recipe
4 tortilla shells
olive oil for brushing shels
toppings (onion, olives, bell peppers, bacon, sausage, banana peppers, cherry tomatoes - and whatever else you desire from the garden)
mozzarella cheese
parmesan cheese
pizza sauce
Begin by preparing the toppings (slicing, peeling etc) - set aside.
Brush both sides of the tortilla shells with olive oil. Place on a cookie sheet and bake for 5 minutes in a preheated 350 degree oven (5 minutes each side).
(see picture on the left below).
Remove from oven and spread pizza sauce on both baked shells (the shells will be crispy and bubbly). Place the already sliced toppings on top of the sauce. And sprinkle on some parmesan cheese (see picture on the right below):
Finally, sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top (see picture below):
Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 7 minutes (or until desired doneness is achieved)
Remove from oven:
Serve immediately. Slice and ENJOY!!!
