Biblical Anatomy #7 - NOSE
Today we continue studying in the series called "Biblical Anatomy."

Anatomy - is the study of parts and structures of organisms.

What is "Biblical Anatomy" you might ask?  It is the study of the structure of the Christian Body.

Today we focus on the NOSE:

Nose - The part of the human face or the forward part of the head of other vertebrates that contains the nostrils and organs of smell and forms the beginning of the respiratory tract.

The Biblical "nose" can be broken down into two important points:
1.  Most importantly, the nose is the organ where God breathed life into our soul (read Genesis 2:7 seen below):
2.  The nose is one of the 5 organs that comprise the senses (vision, taste, touch, hearing and smell)

We are living souls only because God breathed the BREATH OF LIFE in each and every single one of us.

It is also through our nose/nostrils that we continue to breath everyday of our earthly life.  The EPA says that the average person takes between 17,280 and 23,040 breaths a day.  That's more than 6 million breaths a year!!

Moving on to the sense of smell.  In the Scripture passage below, Christ being glorified through us is described in the most beautiful way:
"The fragrance of His knowledge diffuses through us".
This makes me think of an essential oil diffuser:  the aroma can not be ignored but it is so pleasant and remains for a very long time.  We are like the diffuser - Jesus Christ is being disbursed through our life.  Jesus is the healing essential oil (The fragrance of Christ) and we are simply the vessel.

Jesus Christ is the aroma of life leading to life.
