Biblical Anatomy #3 - HEAD

Biblical Anatomy #3 - HEAD
Today we continue studying in the series called "Biblical Anatomy."

Anatomy - is the study of parts and structures of organisms.

What is "Biblical Anatomy" you might ask?  It is the study of the structure of the Christian Body.

Today we focus on the HEAD, which has multiple definitions but we will only be studying the two that apply to Scripture:

Head - the upper part of the human body, animal or object.
- be in the leading position;  director, leader.

Head includes the following parts of Biblical Anatomy that we will be studying in future posts:
cheek, ear, eyes, face, forehead, hair, lips, mouth, nostrils, skull, teeth, throat and tongue.  (4 of the 5 senses are in the "head" - sight, sound, smell & taste).

We begin with Jesus, the head (leader) of the church body (see verses below):

If you recall, a few weeks ago we studied how the entire body of Christ (by "body of Christ" I mean the Christian family/church) must work together.  Below is an example of how it would be if Christians did not unite and did not work together:

And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!”
1 Corinthians 12:21

Our "Biblical head" is in need of protection just like our physical head needs shielding from injury.  In Isaiah we learn about the helmet of salvation.

....and the helmet of salvation on his head;”
Isaiah 59:17

I will close this post with the following passage that amazes me because of the relevance to today's society.  These verses give encouraging instruction on how to live in Christ, as well as a warning.
The instruction - with great patience correct, rebuke & always be prepared
The warning - the time will come when people will not use common sense but instead surround themselves with people who say what they want to hear.
(doesn't that perfectly describe our current world!!)

Keep a level head by focusing on God in all situations!
