Wisdom From Heaven #4 - PEACE LOVING

This is the fourth post in the series called "Wisdom from Heaven".  In this series we will be studying James chapter 3, which details how to put heavenly wisdom into practice in our everyday lives.

Today we are focusing on PEACE LOVING heavenly wisdom.

Let's begin by defining:

peace - freedom from disturbance;  a state of security or order, tranquility, harmony, stillness, calm.

Peace can only come from God:

Notice that the Bible verse above talks about our heart and mind.  We must be peace-thinking and peace-acting at the same time.  As an example - if you decide in your mind that you are going to reconcile a disagreement but never actually take the first step towards reconciliation, then there is no peace but rather conflict and struggle between your heart and mind.

"The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace."
Romans 8:6

First we receive peace from God and then we have to put that peace into action.

"God has called us to live in peace"
1 Corinthians 7:15

Living in peace does not mean that we have to give up our beliefs and be subservient to other people's desires (see verse below).

SundayWisdom4B

edification - the instruction or improvement of a person morally or intellectually.

We need to make every effort to do what leads to peace and to MUTUAL edification.  There will be situations when peace will be impossible - this might happen when one side refuses to come to the table.  That one side might expect you to do all the reconciliation and expect you to change your morality  - that is NOT mutual.

Remember that you are not responsible for other people around you becoming peace loving.  Focus on your life - thinking and acting in a peace loving manner.

"Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ."
Romans 5:1
