Fun Fridays #31 - Coffee & Cake On the Beach

This is a series called:  "Fun Fridays".  On the first Friday of every month I will share with you an old photo or something from the recent past that made me happy;  in hopes that it will at least make you smile 😊


During the summers when I was growing up, we always spent every Saturday at the beach (Lake Erie).  Some members from the small German Baptist church that we attended at the time would also enjoy a day at the beach with us.  Even though we had typical picnic food for lunch - dessert was a totally different matter.  Without fail, we would have the traditional German coffee and cake.  My mom would make a torte and bring a thermos of coffee.  In the picture above - I am the little girl with both elbows on the table (I can't tell you how many times I was scolded for putting my elbows on the table - lol).  My parents, sister, cousins, aunt and grandfather were sitting at the picnic table where I was but the table to the left in the picture above was a church family (friends).  The friend always made sure to bring china (cups and saucers) because it can't be a traditional German cake and coffee without the proper china.
