Orange Dark Chocolate Chip Cookies
If you have followed this blog for even a short amount of time then you know that I am fascinated with the combination of orange and chocolate. These flavors were meant to be together.
Today I am sharing another one of my recipe creations combining orange and chocolate. This recipe is a delicious enhancement of the basic chocolate chip cookie.
Printable Recipe
2 1/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup butter (softened)
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 egg (lightly beaten)
1/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
1 tablespoon (or more) orange rind
10 ounces or dark chocolate chips
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
In a large bowl and using an electric mixer - cream together the butter and sugars (brown and granulated) until blended. Add the egg, vanilla extract, orange juice and rind and mix just until blended. Add in the flour, baking soda and salt - with a wooden spoon stir until mixed. Finally, stir in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed (do not overstir) (the dough should resemble the pictures above or below).
Line your baking sheet with parchment paper. Drop a heaping tablespoon of dough onto the parchment paper leaving enough space in between each cookie for them to spread out in the oven. Continue dropping the cookies until all of the dough is used (This recipe should make 2 dozen cookies but that depends on how large you make them).
Bake in a preheated 375 degree oven for 9 to 11 minutes (or until desired doneness/brown color is achieved).
Cool on a wire rack.
Serve & ENJOY!
