Flowers by Color - MULTI or VARIEGATED
This is the last post in my series featuring flowers by color. For the past few months I picked a different color and shared my favorite flowers of that color (these lists are NOT a complete list of all flowers of that color, simply just my favorites). This week is MULTI or VARIEGATED flower week.

Firstly, you will need to know the difference between annual, perennial & biennial:
Annual Plant - completes its lifecycle in one season/year. By "lifecycle" I mean from germination to seed formation. Here are some examples of annual plants: green beans, petunia, sage, sunflower, morning glory and so much more.
Perennial Plant - lives for more than 2 years but produces seed in one season without dying afterward. Some examples of perennials: most fruit trees like apple, vegetables like asparagus or leeks, day lilies, peonies and so much more.
Biennial Plant - 2 years to complete its lifecycle. Examples are: parsley, caraway, foxglove, parsnips and so much more.

Hummingbirds love this annual. It spreads wonderfully and is very easy to grow.
Allysum
This is a perennial. It has the most tiny and delicate clusters of various colored flowers - each bunch is a different color from pink to white to purple and more. It does have a very strong floral scent that can almost be too pungent in my opinion.
Nasturtium

This is an edible flower (annual) and comes in orange, red and yellow colors. They are stunning in salads.
Striped Petunia
We covered solide colored petunia's in a different post but these beauties are striped! There were many different colors available but I chose bright fuchsia pink and white. This is an annual.
Coleus
We covered other solid colored coleus varieties in other posts but this multi-colored variety is one of my favorites:

This is my favorite variety out of the multi-colored sunflowers. Not only are the colors vibrant but each flower head is huge.
Jolly Joker

This sunflower variety was named after my favorite Impressionist artist: Vincent VanGogh.
Cherry Rose Sunflower

I especially like the inner glow of this variety. Sunflowers are all annuals.
Royal Flush Sunflower

This sunflower is similar to the previous variety, however it is more yellowy than white.

This is an annual that in certain soils reseeds itself. My dad (who has clay type soil) never has to replant because these bright flowers always reseed itself. My sandy soil however requires new planting every year.
