Christmas Day - "Good Christian Men, Rejoice" & "Il Est Né Le Divin Enfant"
It is Christmas Day and Jesus is born today! Jesus is Lord!
We are continuing our study in "not so familiar" Christmas Hymns.
In years past we have studied the meaning of different details of Advent:

NATIVITY - The Basics
The Lowly Life of the Shepherd
Wealthy Wise Men Traveling Far
Angels Hovering 'Round
It's Because God Loved Us So Much
This year I decided to feature some of the lesser Christmas hymns - by "lesser" I mean those that I am not familiar with but are listed in my church's old Hymnal.
Today we are featuring 2 precious songs: "Good Christian Men, Rejoice" & a French song "Il Est Né Le Divin Enfant" (which literally means "He is Born the Devine Child")
(please listen to all YouTube videos below - the first version of Good Christian Men, Rejoice is traditional and the second version I absolutely love - it's sung by 5 siblings! And, I did not include the typed lyrics for the French song.)
Good Christian Men, Rejoice
Mediaeval Latin Carol 14th century German melody

1. Good Christian men, rejoice With heart and soul and voice! Give ye heed to what we say: News! News! Jesus Christ is born today. Ox and ass before Him bow, And He is in the manger now: Christ is born today, Christ is born today!
2. Good Christian men, rejoice With heart and soul and voice! Now ye hear of endless bliss; Joy! Joy! Jesus Christ was born for this, He hath oped the heavenly door, And man is blessed for evermore. Christ was born for this, Christ was born for this!
3. Good Christian men, rejoice With heart and soul and voice! Now ye need not fear the grave: Peace! Peace! Jesus Christ was born to save; Calls you one, and calls you all, To gain His everlasting hall. Christ was born to save, Christ was born to save!
3. Good Christian men, rejoice With heart and soul and voice! Now ye need not fear the grave: Peace! Peace! Jesus Christ was born to save; Calls you one, and calls you all, To gain His everlasting hall. Christ was born to save, Christ was born to save!
