Repurposed Bulb Star Ornament
Do you have any old Christmas light strands in storage that don't work anymore but are just too beautiful to throw away? If so then this is a great way to repurpose those lovely bulbs!
Now, they won't light up but they will glimmer and sparkle from the lights surrounding them on the Christmas tree.
Begin by removing each bulb from the socket (obviously the light strand will be UNPLUGGED!!) - See picture above.
Take a spool of florist wire and start with one bulb. Tightly wrap the base of the bulb with wire going a few times around (make sure not to be too tight - it might cut into the bulb). Keep adding bulbs one at a time until you have a pretty star (8 bulbs per star was perfect but this depends on the size of the bulbs that you are using) - See collage picture above.
For the finishing touches - take your favorite ribbon and wrap around the middle leaving enough for a loop with which to hang on the Christmas tree. You will see in the picture above that I used 3 different types of ribbon for a varied look. (I also secured this ribbon with a glue gun)
ENJOY!!
