Tiny "Giant Sungold" Sunflower

The name of this sunflower is either meant to be sarcastic or the soil was lacking something because they were very tiny and not giant at all.  The plants were about knee high and the flower itself was at it's largest about softball size.  Now, the color is giant in terms of beauty - maybe that is the reason that the word "giant" is included to describe this gorgeous variety.
This is the last sunflower variety feature of 2015 - I hope you enjoyed viewing them as much as I enjoyed growing them!
ENJOY the following pictures!
All photos were taken by me (Angie Ouellette-Tower) and the sunflowers were all grown in my garden.

  1. Wow, these are just stunning and your photography is amazing! I saw sunflowers like this in OR and asked if they sold the seeds, but they didn't. Do you sell yours? Or can you tell me where you purchased them? I'd like to try some next year. Thanks for visiting my blog! Glad to have found you!!
    hugs,
    Jann

  2. Wow, these are beautiful !!! We love sunflowers and these are so cool. When we lived in Utah we had sunflowers along our fence and love how they gave a sunny "glow" to our patio.

  4. Sunflowers are such beautiful flowers, I remember seeing them on the farm when I was growing up . Those were taller than I was. I like that this variety isn't as tall.

    1. Oh - I am so sorry that the squirrels ate all of your sunflowers - that happened to me one year. Thanks for stopping by!

  7. I've been looking at sunflowers to grow next year, this one is very interesting, it doesn't look at all like the usual disk and petal flower.

  8. I think that sunflowers are very pretty. I have a big sunflower as my screen saver on my phone.
