5 Must-Grow Veggies for Home Gardeners

Deciding what you are going to plant in your garden can be an overwhelming task especially if you have limited garden space.  Over the next few weeks I will be sharing with you the top 5 veggies that I think are the most important for the Home Gardener to be growing in their garden (I will also be including recipes).

#4 - CUCUMBERS
I recommend growing "pickling cucumbers" - they are always crisp and when harvested young they will never have those horrible hard seeds.  Also, the most important type of pickle is the "crock pickle" because it contains the beneficial bacteria like yogurt - fermented foods are so healthy for us (again - I'm not a doctor - see my disclaimer at the end of this post).  Below I have shared my pickle recipes - 3 different pickle versions:

There are so many wonderful ways to use pickles - just eat them plain as a snack, sliced on a lunch meat sandwich, or chop finely into egg salad, tuna salad, chicken salad, ham spread.  Try sliced on a grilled cheese sandwich & below is a great way to use up leftover turkey after Thanksgiving:
