Caring for Our Family is God's Desire.

"If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his immediate family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever."  1 Timothy 5:8

This is a very powerful verse!  "Providing" for our family does not just mean food & shelter - it can mean helping a relative who is single parent and needs some alone time.  It might be providing care to an elderly parent even when it 'doesn't fit our busy schedules."  Providing might mean cancelling our plans to help a sibling who is dealing with depression.  Providing does not always have a monetary value.

Do you realize that about 10,000 Baby Boomers are retiring each day!!!  - that means 300,000 new retirees each month!!!  That is mind boggling!  It is not easy (I'm speaking from experience) but taking care of our family is important!  Look at the verse above "If anyone does not provide for his relatives - he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever"!!! - Worse than an unbeliever!!   An unbeliever is doomed to eternal darkness without God - what could be worse than that??  Do you see how serious this is?  We must take care of our family - old, young & everything in between!!

Being a caregiver is what God wants us to do.  Whether you are caring for a child, a parent or a sibling - taking care of your immediate family is both a privilege & a blessing!

  1. So many don't/won't help their immediate family. It makes me sad when people don't have time for the children they gave birth to! I babysit...a lot! Sometimes I have to say no only because I am not physically able to keep grand children every weekend. I have said no, once! Yep, only once. I know the value of having someone help out. The importance of having a break. The money it saves when I babysit. Plus I know that my grandchildren will remember me and remember having fun.

Grandchildren are the crowning glory of the aged. Proverbs 17:6
