Basic & Simple - Canned Pears & Toast
Sometimes the most basic and simple food is the most special treat. When I think back to my childhood I remember some very special after homework treats - as many of you know my mom is the best cook and baker but sometimes simple is the most scrumptious & the most special.
My dad came up with this taste treat - he took a jar of home canned pears that my mom had canned from the pears that he grew. Sometimes he would save the pears and just pour a little of that precious pear syrup into a bowl and dip a piece of buttered toast into that pear brine. There's something about the flavor combination of toasted bread, butter and pears that will make this a comfort treat to treasure!

DeleteYes, that is true, simple truly is best. LOL. My mom would make us buttered toast sprinkled with cinnamon sugar and we loved it.
