Grape Juice Sugar Cookies

Grape Juice Sugar Cookies

These cookies have a very subtle grape flavor - if you are looking for a robust "Jolly Rancher Candy" kind of grape flavor then these cookies are not what you want.

These cookies would go wonderfully with Wine & Cheese!

I used my homegrown & homemade Grape Juice for these recipes -

Clarification:  I don't want to offend any of my readers so I would like to clarify - I cook & bake with alcohol often.  I have had a small glass of wine with dinner from time to time but I have never been drunk.  I never "drink to drink" - nothing good can come from that (in my opinion).

Printable Recipe
Cookie
2 cups flour
3/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup butter (softened)
1 egg
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 tablespoons grape juice
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon cream (half & half or whipping)

With an electric mixer - cream the butter & sugar together until fluffy.  Add the juice, egg, extract & cream & mix until combined.  Now with a wooden spoon - stir in the flour, baking powder & salt until combined (see picture above).
On a lightly floured surface roll half of the dough & cut with a cookie cutter of your choice.  Continue rolling & cutting until all of the dough has been used up.  If you are not going to frost your cookies then you will want to sprinkle them with granulated sugar as seen below.

Bake in a preheated 400 degree oven for 8 minutes or until desired texture & color is achieved.

They are best frosted with my grape frosting recipe below

Frosting
1/4 cup grape juice
2 cups powdered sugar
2 tablespoons butter (softened)
1 tablespoon whipping cream

With an electric mixer - blend the butter & 1 cup of the powdered sugar.  Then add the whipping cream & grape juice.  Finally add the next cup of powdered sugar - if you want a more stiff frosting then you may add more powdered sugar - I prefer a less sweet frosting.  Optional - add a little food coloring for a more grape color.

Cool cookies completely before frosting.  Now spread the frosting on each cookie - serve & ENJOY!!

See - these cookies are perfect for an afternoon meal where wine is served (those are Renoir place mats that I bought at a garage sale)
