The "Italian White" Sunflower
This Sunflower is the brightest of bright! - When the sun catches it just right the petals really do look white. It is a delicate sunflower and it is loved by all ants (see the picture below near the end where 1 sunflower is covered in ants).

All photos were taken by me (Angie Ouellette-Tower) and the sunflowers were all grown in my garden.

Aren't sunflowers the cheeriest flower! Lovely photos!
ReplyDeleteI love that last photo! I've never seen one of these before.
ReplyDeleteI wonder why the ants love these so much?
I thought that was strange also since the ants didn't bother the other sunflower varieties. A sweeter seed? - I don't know - very interesting though.
DeletePretty! How long do they last?

They were in bloom for almost 1 month - now the middle of the flower remains with seeds almost fully formed.
DeleteThanks!
Absolutely gorgeous photos! I used one of them to create the header for your sponsor highlight!! Inspiration :)
