Smoothie Saturday #4 - Ginger Coconut Pear

Smoothie Saturday #4 - Ginger Coconut Pear
A while ago I bought - The "NutriBullet". Since then I have been creating many smoothie creations.
Today is the fourth "Smoothie Saturday" where I will share one of my smoothie experimentation.
In this recipe I included ginger.
Ginger  - helps relieve indigestion and colds, it has anti-inflammatory properties, it helps prevent motion sickness and relieves dizziness, it is calming, migraine relief and even helps prevent cancer. (again - I'm not a doctor - please see my "disclaimer" at the bottom of this post).
The optional ingredient "coconut oil" - really adds to the coconut flavor and it is also very healthy for you (available in the health food section of most mega grocery stores) (it is solid like butter - not like vegetable oil).

1 pear (washed, cored & peeled - you can leave the skin on if you prefer)
1 small apple (washed & cored - I leave the skin on)
2 tablespoons shredded coconut (unsweetened!!)
1 teaspoon coconut oil (optional)
1 teaspoon flax seeds
1 scoop vanilla whey protein powder
1/2 cup kefir (or yogurt)
1/2 cup water
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 chunk fresh ginger (washed, peeled & the size of a dime)
Begin with the smaller "NutriBullet" container and use the "nut & seed" blade to blend & chop the coconut & flax seeds. Now place the remaining ingredients (including the processed seeds & nuts from the first step) into the larger "NutriBullet" container and use the "smoothie" blade. Blend for about 30 seconds.
ENJOY!!
IMPORTANT: All of my smoothie recipes on this blog are measured for the "NutriBullet" and are a single serving - if you have a different kind of blender that has a larger capacity then you may increase the amount of ingredients according to your desired smoothie needs. The ingredients in this recipe measure exactly up to the max line of the NutriBullet.

  4. Oh wow....so craving this now. I don't think I've ever had the combination of ginger and pear, but it seems obvious that they should work well together! Thanks so much for sharing at Sweet Saturday :) And have a nice holiday!
