Alfredo Asparagus Pizza




 Alfredo Asparagus Pizza

I love the flavor of "Alfredo Sauce" and it is even more wonderful when combined with asparagus and bacon.  This pizza is very unique - I did not use any pizza sauce because that would have taken away from the Alfredo Sauce It can be made 2 different ways: cut into thin strips and then dipped into Alfredo sauce and eaten by hand or ladle the sauce on top of the pieces and then eat it with a fork and knife (the second way is what is shown in the picture above).



3/4 cup fresh asparagus (washed & chopped)
1/2 cup bacon (fried & then chopped)
1 medium onion (peeled & chopped)
garlic olive oil
Pizza crust (homemade or from a kit like "Chef Boyardee")
cornmeal
Parmesan Cheese
1 packet of Alfredo Sauce (follow the directions on the back of the packet)

Prepare the vegetables and bacon as listed above (NOTE: if you do not want the asparagus to be crispy & crunchy then saute the cut asparagus in a little olive oil for no more than 2 minutes before adding to the pizza).  Prepare your pizza crust (either homemade or from a kit - I prefer homemade of course).  Sprinkle some cornmeal onto your baking surface and then roll the dough onto your baking stone as seen in the picture below left and fold up the edges (NOTE - if you want a crispy crust then use a baking stone, which is what I used or for a softer crust - roll the dough out thicker and use a regular pizza pan or a glass Pyrex dish).
For the garlic olive oil - if you do not have any on hand then simply saute a few cloves of garlic in olive oil for about 7 minutes, discard the cloves and the oil will be flavored with garlic.  Spread this garlic olive oil on the top of the crust.
Now spread the prepared toppings (bacon, onion & asparagus) on top of the olive oiled crust) (see picture below on the right).





 Sprinkle with Parmesan Cheese (see picture below) (amount will vary depending on what kind of pan you use - sprinkle according to your taste).


 Bake in a preheated 400 degree oven for 20 to 25 minutes (or until desired color and texture is achieved).  While the pizza is baking - prepare the Alfredo sauce according to the instructions on the package.



Cut the pizza and then serve with the Alfredo Sauce and either dip the pizza slices into the sauce or ladle the sauce on top of the pieces.

  2. That looks SO good! I'm veg - do you think I could make it and omit the bacon, or use soy bacon? My hubby would LOVE this.

    1. Yes I do have a recipe for the pizza crust - I will share that in a later post. (I should have posted the crust first and then the pizza - bad planning on my part - sorry)
