Sunflowers - Royal Flush
I have been growing sunflowers for decades and every year I am amazed by their diverse array of colors. This particular variety - "Royal Flush" has pale yellow petal tips and a rosy flush ring around the middle of the flower. I grew 3 different types of sunflowers this year and the "Royal Flush" bloomed the earliest (in late July and beginning of August).
I will let this sunflower speak for itself - enjoy some of my sunflower photos from this year:

Those are so beautiful, I have a question, do you get the seeds from them and can you eat them?I am just curious...
ReplyDeleteI have only tried to save and eat the sunflower seeds from the "Mammoth Sunflower" type and it was not very successful - lots of bugs (I grow organically). With these special varieties (Royal Flush, Black Velvet Queen and Autumn Beauty) I am just growing for fun and for their beauty.
ReplyDeleteI love love love this pictures of the flowers:)
ReplyDeleteOh - sweetybird09 - I forgot to tell you where I got these seeds from (sorry). The "Royal Flush" and "Black Beauty Queen" are from "Gurney's" seed & nursery - seed catalog. And the "Autumn Beauty" is a "Livingston Seed" packet from my local hardware store.
